The Grupo Xcaret parks are the headline attractions of the Riviera Maya — but with four very different parks (plus tours), it is easy to pick the wrong one. Here is the honest, no-fluff breakdown so you spend your day (and money) on the park that actually fits your trip.
Quick facts
- Best time
- Nov–Apr (dry season)
- Time needed
- A full day per park
- Budget
- Combo passes save most
- Getting there
- Easy from Playa / Cancún
Xcaret — culture & nature
The flagship park: underground rivers, a coral reef aquarium, wildlife and the spectacular evening show Xcaret México Espectacular. It is the most complete, all-day experience and the best choice for first-timers and families who want a bit of everything.
Xel-Há — snorkel & relax
A natural inlet built for water lovers: snorkel straight off the shore, float the lazy river and relax with all-inclusive food and drinks. The calmest, most laid-back park — ideal for families and couples who want to swim more than queue.
Xplor — adventure
Zip-lines over the jungle, amphibious vehicles and swimming through stalactite-filled rivers. The adrenaline park — best for teens, couples and active travellers (note the minimum age/height limits).
Xenses — quirky fun
A playful “sensory” park of optical illusions, a floating river and mud baths. The most unusual and the shortest visit — a great half-day add-on rather than a main event.
How to choose
- First trip / want it all: Xcaret.
- Swimming & relaxing: Xel-Há.
- Adrenaline: Xplor.
- Something different / short on time: Xenses.
- Visiting several: buy a combo pass for the best value.

See the Xcaret parks guideFrequently asked questions
Which Xcaret park is best for families with young kids?
Xel-Há and Xcaret are the most family-friendly: calm water, gentle activities and plenty of shade and food. Xplor has a minimum age and height for its zip-lines and rafts.
Can you visit two Xcaret parks in one day?
It is possible for Xplor (often a half-day of high energy) plus a relaxed evening, but most parks deserve a full day. Multi-park combo tickets are the better value if you want several.
Is it cheaper to buy tickets online in advance?
Yes. Booking on the official site ahead of time is usually cheaper than the gate, and combo passes (e.g. Xcaret + Xel-Há + Xplor) lower the per-park cost.
