Xplor Park
The Riviera Maya's ultimate jungle adventure park—zip-lines, amphibious vehicles, and underground rivers made for adrenaline lovers.
Overview: What Is Xplor Park?
Tucked into dense jungle just south of Playa del Carmen, Xplor is the adrenaline-driven member of the Xcaret family of parks. Instead of shows, wildlife pavilions, or cultural exhibits, Xplor is built entirely around movement: soaring zip-lines, amphibious vehicles crawling through caverns, and swims through cool, stalactite-lined rivers. It is an all-inclusive, activity-based day where nearly every attraction is unlimited—ride the zip-lines as many times as the line allows, and hop back in an amphibious vehicle for another lap through the jungle.
Unlike Xcaret Park, which rewards slow wandering and cultural discovery, Xplor rewards showing up early and moving fast. Most guests spend five to seven hours here, and by the end of the day you will be soaked, muddy, and thoroughly worn out in the best possible way.

What Makes Xplor Unique
A handful of Riviera Maya parks offer zip-lines or cenote swims individually. Xplor is one of the only places that combines all of it—twin zip-line circuits, self-driven amphibious vehicles, and cave swims—into a single, unlimited-access day.
Twin Zip-Line Circuits
Two separate circuits weave through the treetops, so you can complete one, catch your breath, and go straight into the other without waiting for a new session.
Amphibious Vehicles
Drive your own Xplormovil through jungle trails and straight into caverns and rivers—no license or driving experience required.
Cave Swims
Swim beneath stalactites in naturally cool underground rivers, then paddle a raft through glow-lit caves for an experience unlike any beach day.
Main Attractions
Zip-Lines
Xplor's two zip-line circuits are the headline attraction, and for good reason. Towers rise more than 40 meters above the jungle floor, and across both circuits you will cover over three kilometers of combined flight time. Circuits are designed with a mix of short warm-up lines and longer, faster runs that send you skimming just above the canopy—some sections even drop you toward cenote pools below before the line pulls back up.
- Two full circuits totaling more than 3 kilometers of zip-line flight time.
- Tower heights exceeding 40 meters above the jungle canopy.
- Both circuits are unlimited—ride again as many times as time and lines allow.
- Trained staff clip you in and out at every platform; no prior experience needed.
Amphibious Vehicles (Xplormovil)
Climb behind the wheel of an open-top amphibious vehicle and steer yourself along a jungle circuit that dips in and out of caverns, streams, and shallow rivers. The Xplormovil route is designed for two to four passengers per vehicle, with one guest driving each stretch—kids and non-drivers ride along and can usually take a turn on calmer sections.
- Self-driven jungle circuit through trails, caves, and shallow river crossings.
- No driver's license required; a park guide briefs every group beforehand.
- Two separate routes let you explore different sections of the jungle.
Stalactite Cave River Swim
Slip into a natural life vest and float through an underground river beneath ceilings draped in stalactites. The water stays cool year-round, and the muted cave lighting turns the swim into one of the most photogenic (if camera-free) moments of the day.

Raft Caves
Climb aboard a hand-paddled raft and navigate through a second cave system, this one lit by soft amber lighting that gives the water an almost lava-like glow. It is a slower, more meditative counterpart to the zip-lines and amphibious vehicles—a good way to close out the day before heading to the showers.
How a Day at Xplor Unfolds
Xplor opens in the morning and most visits run five to seven hours, including lunch. There is no fixed itinerary—once you are checked in and equipped with a locker and helmet, you are free to roam between attractions in whatever order the lines allow.
- Arrival & check-in: Lockers, life vests, and helmets are handed out near the entrance. Arrive close to opening to beat the biggest lines.
- Zip-lines first: Most guests tackle at least one zip-line circuit early, while energy and lines are both fresh.
- Amphibious vehicles mid-morning: Circuits run continuously; expect a short wait at busy times.
- Lunch buffet: An all-inclusive buffet with smoothie and snack stations scattered around the park keeps energy up all day.
- Cave swims & rafts in the afternoon: A cooler, calmer way to wind down before your second zip-line lap or the trip back to your hotel.
Energy stations serving smoothies, cookies, and soft drinks are scattered throughout the park and included in your admission, so you rarely need to stop moving to refuel.
What to Pack
You will get wet, and at some point you will get muddy—that is simply part of the Xplor experience. Pack accordingly and you will enjoy the day far more than if you show up in street clothes.
Wear & Bring
- Swimsuit worn under quick-dry clothes—many guests keep clothes on the whole day.
- Secure water shoes or sport sandals with a heel strap; flip-flops are not allowed on the zip-line towers.
- A full change of clothes for the ride home.
Leave at the Hotel
- Regular sunscreen—only biodegradable, park-approved sunscreen is permitted.
- Phones and cameras, unless sealed in a waterproof pouch; several attractions do not allow loose items.
- Jewelry, watches, and anything you would hate to lose in a river.
Best Time to Visit
Arrive right at opening—lines for the zip-lines and amphibious vehicles build quickly by mid-morning, especially from December through April and during the summer holidays. Weekdays are noticeably calmer than weekends. Rain is not a dealbreaker; most of the park is designed to be enjoyed wet, though a heavy tropical downpour can pause zip-line operations briefly for safety.
Booking your ticket online in advance is strongly recommended during peak season, since daily capacity is limited and popular dates sell out.

Xplor Fuego: The Nighttime Sibling
Once the sun goes down, the same jungle transforms into Xplor Fuego, a torch-lit evening version of the park with zip-lines under the stars and cave swims lit by flickering fire. It runs as a separate admission and schedule from daytime Xplor, and makes a great pairing if you want both the classic daytime adrenaline rush and a completely different, atmospheric night experience.
